Getting Ready For Summer!

Sorry for the silence… we’ve been really busy in a good way.

Since I last wrote a blog we’ve had launch parties, new book deals and new languages coming on board. It’s all wonderful news so I’ll take a moment to share some on the highlights. Going back to almost bookfair time we celebrated the exciting news that Harry Heape had been acquired by Faber & Faber. Shiny Pippin is set to come out next year and as suspected Harry’s humour and warmth is ensuring that every step has the combination of great fun as well as being hugely exciting. For further details do check out his author page. Other news is for Jess French, who we now refer to as Dr Jess French! Yes, Jess has now graduated from university and now adds being a fully qualified vet to her zoological degree. This combined with her selection as one of the Top 50 conservationist by BBC Wildlife and her ongoing tv work means her star continues to rise. Celebrating this was made easy with the publication of Chimp Rescue for Born Free and Jess being signed to Bloomsbury to create an Exotic Minibeast book for families… the fact Jess shares will entertain and amaze all it’s readers big and small.

Also Keilly Swift gets ready for publication with talks in schools and the jacket now finalised. Thank you to the amazing children at Portman Primary. It feels like the perfect way to celebrate the new book which looks every bit as wonderful as you’d expect from Lantana. See for yourself, tigon and ligers are incredibly cute! It’s the perfect way to get children involved and talk about loving the sign that you’re in. Do look out for its publication this September.

Other news sees everyone’s favourite knight in waiting and portly horse take to the stage! Harry and Oats make their stage debut this September at The Mission Theatre in Bath. Adapted by Tom Morris the play is a warm retelling of the first two books and creates a perfect introduction to the new book three, The Night-time Knight. John McLay and Martin Brown continue to work their magic with a new book due for publication too soon… Look out for Beastly Beasts.

And just when you thought there can’t be any more news, we’ve celebrating the publication of Captain Pug by Laura James. With an incredible launch and events around the country it’s been a great first month and Pugs adventures are entertaining children across the width and breadth of our country. Of course not one to settle Lady M and Pug have published in Australia and around the world is hot on their heels. More soon…

Other news sees our first project with White Glove publish. Jimmy Griggs‘ debut novel, Ralph Higley and the Illuminatus publishes in August. With jacket form Chris Fisher is a great package and offers a traditional story for middle grade readers that has baddies, friendship, magic and fabulous creatures…

As well as book deals we’ve been out and about and last week saw the Bath Literary Agency at the Winchester Writers Festival. It was a brilliant day and such a well run festival – thank you Judith and the team! For new writers is definitely one to put in your diaries. Maybe see you there next year…

We have so much more to share but for now I’ll start there. . .summer is on it’s way and it feels that it will be the perfect time to let you have more bright and happy news. Especially if it continues to rain like this…

Thank you for all your support…
